The Blyde River Canyon, part of the Drakensberg Mountains, boasts the largest green canyon (due to rich subtropical vegetation) and the third largest in the world - after Grand Canyon (Arizona, USA) and Fish River Canyon (Namibia). With 26 km of extension and 800 meters of average height, protected by the homonymous reserve and with a dam in its domains, it is located close to the Kruger region, almost on the border of the provinces of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
Undoubtedly, it is one of the major scenic attractions in Africa and its entire surroundings, known as the Panorama Route, is full of waterfalls, viewpoints, trails, rock formations and peculiar villages. It is possible to visit each of the region's attractions and enjoy the canyon views from both the top or at dam levels, whether by car, balloon, ultralight or boat. Among the mandatory stops are the formations known as Three Rondavels, God's Windows and Bourke's Luck Potholes.
