The peaceful and charming village of St. Lucia is the gateway and perfect base for exploring the spectacular Hluhluwe-Imfolozi and iSimangaliso Wetland Park (formerly St. Lucia Wetland), South Africa's third largest conservation area. The park is divided into 10 areas with different characteristics: Kosi Bay, Coastal Forest, Lake Sibaya, Sodwana Bay, uMkhuze, False Bay, Western Shores & Charters Creek, Lake St. Lucia, Eastern Shores & Cape Vidal and Mphelane.
All sections of the park can be visited from St. Lucia. The boat trip through St. Lucia estuary, always full of hippos, birds and Nile crocodiles, is an unmissable attraction. The region is also suitable for fishing, mountain biking and diving, and can be easily accessed by car, via Mtubatuba, from Durban or Richards Bay airports.
