There are more than 300 quality wineries in regions of incredible scenic beauty, historical importance and gastronomic tradition: Cape Winelands, distant 15 to 150 km from the center of Cape Town. However, anyone who imagines a bucolic and monothematic region is mistaken: in addition to the spectacular wines and restaurants, there are numerous cultural, sport and nature attractions, guaranteeing fun for all age groups.
Constantia is next to Kirstenbosch, just minutes from the Waterfront. Somerset West, close to the airport, has old and historic wineries. But the Cape Winelands region itself begins in Stellenbosch, colonized by the Dutch and the second oldest city in the country. Franschhoek, colonized by French Huguenots, is the center of excellence in gastronomy and concentrates great artisanal micro wineries. Both are the best known, but the region is extensive and Paarl, Worcester, Montagu or Tulbagh can keep wine lovers entertained for weeks.
