The Ngorongoro crater is a safari icon worldwide and its reputation is not unjustified. The famous volcanic caldera - an ancient extinct and collapsed volcano - is considered a true Noah's Ark, as it conserves all species in the region. Inactive, intact and dry, the boiler has a maximum diameter of 20 km, an average depth of 600 meters (with respect to the edges of the crater) and is inserted in the vast Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Highly important part of the Serengeti ecosystem, it is a conservation area based on the principle of multiple land use: it promotes the coexistence of wild animals with the traditional Masai population originally present in the land, stimulating a symbiotic and peaceful life. Inside the crater, human occupation is not allowed. Oldupai Gorge is an important archaeological site located on the edge of the park, a designated UNESCO world heritage site.
