Pilanesberg is not the largest, the best nor the most famous game park in South Africa. But its excellent accessibility (less than 3 hours by road from Johannesburg), beautiful scenery and diversity of wildlife justify the reputation as one of the most popular and well-known parks in the country.

The nearby airport also serves the neighboring resort of Sun City. Pilanesberg is a great option to find the Big 5: especially suitable for families with children, who prefer not to travel longer distances to other safari destinations, or to combine the experience with Sun City attractions. You can visit the park from the resort or stay in the great lodges within the reserve, which normally allow children on safaris.
