Recognized by the numerous herds of elephants and the imposing baobabs, Tarangire National Park is home to several felines, more than 550 species of birds and also observes the phenomenal zebra and wildebeest migration, although on a smaller scale than in Serengeti. During the rainy season, many animal species move to other regions.
The Tarangire River names and divides the sixth largest park in Tanzania, which is 70 km from Lake Manyara and less than two hours by road from Arusha. In the past, a single ecosystem dominated the entire region. The dry season, which runs from June to October, is the best time to visit the park: the river sustains the presence and survival of wild animals, exerting enormous influence on maintaining the ecological balance of the Tarangire.
